Power over Ethernet, or PoE, allows for electrical power to be passed along with data on a twisted pair Ethernet cable. This single Ethernet cable can power a Nucleus Anywhere Intercom.
To use PoE you will need either a PoE injector (for a single device) or a PoE switch (for one or more devices) to add power to your wired network. These can be purchased anywhere home network equipment is sold.
Nucleus uses PoE IEEE 802.3at type 1 (IEEE 802.3af) in a 10/100 Mbps Ethernet port. Passive PoE will not work with Nucleus. A minimum of 10.5 watts is needed for each Nucleus device you wish to power, so plan accordingly. We've tested a few PoE switches and injectors that will work just fine with Nucleus.
