Our new mobile app makes setup far more straightforward. While the app will walk you through the process, you can also use these instructions for reference.
If you're the administrator, you can log in with your admin email address and password. Family and friends can create an account and join your family with your Home code. Make sure you don't try to set up the mobile app until you've either set up your first Nucleus device or were given a Home code by the family administrator.
Note: Currently you can only create Home connections with the mobile app.
The screenshots below are from the iOS version of our app. The setup for Android follows the same steps and looks nearly the same. If you have issues setting up the Android app using these steps, contact the Customer Experience Team (support@nucleuslife.com).
Logging in with the admin account for the first time
- Tap Yes, I'm new to the app.
- In the Family admin section, tap Sign in.
- Enter your admin email address and password, then tap Sign in.
- The app will recognize that this is your first time logging in, and let you know that once your profile is complete your mobile account will appear on your Nucleus devices. Tap Got it to continue.
- You can either Take a photo using your phone's camera, or Upload a photo from your Camera Roll. You'll be prompted for permissions to your camera and/or photos, so be sure to grant permission. The Android version needs access to local storage as well.
- After taking or uploading a photo, you can Retake or Cancel (for uploaded photos) to provide a different image, crop the picture by panning and zooming the box on top of your picture, or tap Use Photo to continue.
- You'll see how the picture will look on your Nucleus devices. You can change it by tapping Take another, or continue by tapping This one's great. Your photo will upload and the app will advance to the next step.
- Next you'll be asked to enable permissions and notifications. Tap Allow next to each item and then OK or Allow on the popup. Once Camera, Notifications, and Microphone are enabled, tap Done.
- Tap Go to home. The app will proceed to the contacts screen. You're all set!
Creating a new account
- Tap Yes, I'm new to the app.
- In the Joining a family section, tap Create Account.
- Tap Yes, I have a Home code. If you don't have one, contact the administrator for the family you're joining.
- Enter the Home code for the family you're joining, then tap Connect.
- The app will check your Home code. If you see the family name that you're trying to join, tap Yes, that's them!. If you don't see the correct family name, tap No, let's try again and reenter the Home code.
- Enter your email address, then tap Next.
- The Safety Stop will appear. You'll be sent a verification email to confirm that you own the email. After verifying, the setup process will proceed automatically. If you don't see the email, check any spam or junk folders that address may have. You can also send the email again by tapping Re-send Verification in the app. If you need to edit the email address you entered, tap Change Email.
- Create a password, then tap Next. Confirm the password, then tap Next again.
- Enter your first and last name, then tap Next. This will be the name that appears on the Nucleus Home screen, and the name used by Alexa for voice-initiated calls.
- You can either Take a photo using your phone's camera, or Upload a photo from your Camera Roll. You'll be prompted for permissions to your camera and/or photos, so be sure to grant permission.

- Tap Go to home. You'll be taken to the contacts screen awaiting approval from the family admin. If they don't see the approval email in their email inbox, you can tap Request again at the bottom of the screen to send a new email.
- Once approved, the contact screen will load normally, allowing you to be called and make calls. You're all set!
Logging in to an existing mobile account.
- Tap Sign in at the bottom of the screen.
- Enter your email address and password, then tap Sign in.
Note: If you've already set up your admin account or created your new mobile account and need to log in to a different device, make sure you log out of your account on the previous device. You may have issues getting notifications if you leave two or more devices logged in to the same account at once. To log out, tap the gear icon in the upper-left corner of the contacts screen, then tap Logout.
